It’s easy to fall under Zinadelphia’s spell. The Philadelphia-based singer-songwriter originally gained a cult following online posting covers, captivating listeners with her earthy, soulful voice and garnering comparisons to the likes of Joni Mitchell and Amy Winehouse. However, she’s since proved her range and songwriting prowess, and her debut EP, Waterfall, establishes herself as a versatile talent in her own right.

The title track “Waterfall” is a neo-soul masterpiece, and her smoky voice pulls you in on the verse before bursting at the chorus into a celebration of the joy of taking your life into your own hands. She shows more delicacy on “Underdog,” as she starts the song crooning over beautiful stripped-down guitar chords. Even though the beginning of the song sounds like it belongs playing over the speakers of a jazzy lounge, she adds a modern twist of indie rock with distorted guitars and big drums, further proving her ability to fuse genres and create modern classics.

“Cosmos” is a retro-tinged track that lets her voice shine as she sings about eventually reconnecting with someone in the past somewhere in the universe. Closing out the EP is the undeniable hit “Love Language” which has already racked up over two million streams on Spotify, which is little surprise given how her unique brand of eclectic pop shines on this track.

Zinadelphia is a powerful testament to bringing a genre to life for a new generation. She exhibits an undeniable talent to take a classic sound and breathe new life into the genre. It’s undeniable that Zinadelphia is an artist that will break into the stratosphere very soon, and Waterfall is just the beginning for her.
