Suffolk-via-Essex do-it-yourself duo Tropic Gold, who released their breakout EP What A Wonderful Experience last year, have dropped a brand new single, "A PLACE CALLED EUPHORIA." Showcasing their signature atmospheric sound with a ramped-up harshness, the band has outdone themselves with this powerful and raw release.

The single is intensely haunting from the start as siren-like notes fade in from the ether. The semi-robotic vocals create a bold structure and other-worldly sound, cyclically chanting, "I wake/ I eat/ It's time/ To sleep." The rhythm is grimy and driving, not so much guiding but throttling the listener down the sonic rabbit hole. A high-pitched ringing builds at the end of the first chorus, creating a massive rise of intensity and forcing listeners to dive head-first into the next verse. The instrumentation complements the narrative, using gnarly guitars and whining synths to create ethereal undercurrents that don't miss a beat.

The band expressed in a statement, "The internet has damaged the minds of so many people and it's changed the world forever, it leaves you with a false sense of EUPHORIA because nothing is real, and all people do is compare themselves to fake projections of happiness. Between the toxic spread of misinformation and glorifying unrealistic ideologies of how to live your life, this place of EUPHORIA acts like a drug of the modern age that not everyone realises they're addicted to. It's a temporary high with a comedown that makes people change the way they live, think, and see themselves."

The accompanying music video matches the track's energy perfectly, providing simple yet fierce visuals and lyrics blaring across the screen. The visual oozes with a dystopian, apocalyptic flair that follows the band as they navigate their increasingly dilapidating environment.
