Tommy Richman Brings Summer to a Close With “THOUGHT YOU WERE THE ONE”
Tommy Richman is back with another soulful single, leading up to what’s sure to be an exciting debut album from the breakout singer and rapper.
Richman’s latest release “THOUGHT YOU WERE THE ONE” is a sweet blend of nostalgic '90s R&B and new school magic. There’s a certain sense of melancholy this song evokes; maybe it’s that time of year when summer is ending and the air is getting cooler or maybe it’s the feeling of saying goodbye to that summer fling as you hold on to those last few sun-soaked memories you had together. Whatever it is, Richman nails it with a tender, distinctive vocal performance and hypnotic beat.
The 24-year-old singer and rapper has been a staple on everyone’s “For You Page” the last few months with his song-of-the-sumer contender “MILLION DOLLAR BABY.” The Virginia-native turned LA-based artist has had quite the year since signing to Brent Faiyaz’s joint venture with PULSE Records, ISO Supremacy. As the first signing to the nascent label, Richman has delivered their first No. 1 on Billboard’s Pop Airplay chart and he’s amassed nearly 37 million monthly Spotify listeners. That number is sure to climb with the upcoming release of the artist’s debut album Coyote, set for release on September 27.
Richman’s use of sultry synths, buzzy synth bass, and punchy drums combined with his impressive vocal prowess has made for a signature sound. “THOUGHT YOU WERE THE ONE” is another step deeper into Richman’s sonic world, accompanied by a moon-soaked music video welcoming listeners to the desert in anticipation of Coyote.
