Spoiler alert: The Dare is having a really, really good year. Set to embark on his first-ever headline tour in North America this fall and with his debut project What’s Wrong With New York due out September 6, he’s unstoppably innovative. The Dare is the name dripping off everyone’s tongue.

“You’re Invited,” the latest single to drop from his upcoming LP, is raunchy and addictive, in true The Dare fashion. Its indie rock throb exudes desire, the sonic encapsulation of a hazy make-out with someone you won’t remember the next morning. Alongside a Lazovick-directed video, he only continues to chariot the indie sleaze renaissance with his electropop pulse. His sound noticeably mirrors Jet and LCD Soundsystem, only younger, messier, and with much more snark.

We’re witnessing a major shift in pop, a return to its 2000s roots when music was perfectly careless. This is thanks to many moving parts, and The Dare is one of the most critical, both center stage and behind the scenes. Producing Charli xcx’s “Guess,” alongside its chart-topping Billie Eilish-assisted remix, The Dare is the pilot of our shapeshifting culture. From his electrifying DJ sets across the globe, partying alongside Charli, Lorde, and Billie, to every song he drops becoming a club anthem for anyone cool enough to take notice, there’s no telling what this debut album will usher in for him, but we know it'll be sweaty and sexy.
