Natalie Shay Gives a Toast to Change and Growth in ‘CHAMPAGNE’

British indie pop artist Natalie Shay delivers her celebratory six-track EP, CHAMPAGNE. As she reflects on the past couple of years, all the hurdles she's overcome, and the lessons she's learned, the artist peers at life with a brand new perspective and realizes just how far she's come. Shay explains, “Every song was written during things I’ve learned and experienced with friendships and relationships over the last 2 years since my last EP, MILK.”
Life can often throw challenges at us and sometimes it can feel overwhelming that everyone and everything is against you, but if it wasn’t for those experiences, we wouldn’t be able to grow as individuals. Some of these obstacles that Shay details include the devastating end to a friendship in “The Edge,” where the singer-songwriter faces these heart-wrenchingly raw emotions and turns them into a healing, uplifting, and infectious anthem. Meanwhile, “Figure of 8” details an unhealthy and never-ending cycle of returning to someone who no longer serves you. Highlighting Shay’s growth, the track sees her putting herself first, cutting out the things in her life that are holding her back until she ultimately begins to flourish.
Bringing the EP to a close is “Love Me Too” which perfectly encapsulates all of the themes throughout CHAMPAGNE, as Shay offers up an intoxicating, dance-worthy tune that will have you chanting along to her painfully relatable lyrics, “I’m too good at overthinking everything.”
CHAMPAGNE stays true to Shay’s signature sound of jangly indie guitars, groove-inducing beats, shimmering synths, and angelic harmonies. Her powerful, soulful vocals soar over the upbeat instrumentation, resulting in a tracklist where each song is a contender for any and all feel-good playlists.
