Isaac Dunbar Doesn't Care If You're "Late to the Party"

Isaac Dunbar is embarking on a new journey in 2025 and if his new single is any indication on how it’ll turn out, we’re glad to be along for the ride. His explosive anthem “Late to the Party” is Dunbar’s first independent release since 2018, and although it’s natural to feel intimidated by this new path, the sonic power he harnesses is his strongest armor. In this track, listeners experience the best of Dunbar’s talent, taste, and infectious freedom of expression.

“Late to the Party”’s genius lies in its familiarity and simultaneous rejection of the expected. Isaac Dunbar’s strongest attribute, arguably, is his ability to toe this line and reference without regurgitation. In this new single, we hear the best of it in a beautiful marriage of vintage rock and 2010’s optimistic pop. The track takes us on a true journey, rearranging classic song structure and going from upbeat to smooth and sultry. In the verses, Dunbar’s vocals slip through the effortlessly cool lyricism with a clear visual message. The chorus is an entirely different story, with an explosion of energy that demands to be played over and over again.

What could easily be taken as a simple party anthem, and there’s absolutely nothing wrong with that, is actually quite deeper lyrically. In this track, Dunbar is exploring all of the facets of himself and his artistry, without thought for who’s able or willing to understand. If he keeps living his life to the fullest, focused on making fulfilling art and being his true self, it doesn’t matter if it takes a while for others to catch on. On his Instagram Dunbar shared, “‘Late to the Party’ is about someone sleeping on you. Everyone feels like they have something special to bring to the table, which is true: but many times people do not recognize that. It is a rejection anthem.” This adds a layer that makes the song not only more enjoyable, but even more empowering.

Isaac Dunbar never misses and we can’t wait to see what this next era has in store for the undeniable superstar. With an instant classic like “Late to the Party," we’re just glad to be early enough to appreciate his greatness in this moment.
