Deante' Hitchcock's "I Got Money Now" Is a Triumphant Ode to the Come Up

Fresh off of his high-profile feature on the commercially and critically acclaimed Revenge of the Dreamers III, Deante' Hitchcock teases his major label debut album with the triumphant "I Got Money Now."

The JID-assisted track is the second single off Hitchcock's forthcoming debut album, BETTER, preceded by "How TF (feat. 6LACK)." This song, accompanied with a captivating visual, has a more somber tone with both artists singing to past love interests about the failures of their relationships.

If you are unfamiliar with the singer and rapper, EPs So Much For Good Luck and Just A Sample 2 are strong introductions to the versatile artist. Although Hitchcock has been releasing music for a few years, he still approaches each track with the determination and drive of a new artist trying to prove themselves.

On "I Got Money Now," Hitchcock reunites with producer and longtime collaborator, Brandon Phillips-Taylor, to create a prideful Atlanta rap anthem. The track features a looped choir sample with booming bass and Hitchcock's braggadaccio, which he makes clear is the result of his own perseverance and dedication. Hitchcock's energy is infectious, and the yelled hook is memorable after the first listen. Fellow Atlanta artist, JID, closes the track with a fast-flowed verse that focuses on similar themes of self-reflection and braggadocio, adding an interesting change of pace to the last leg of the song.

“I Got Money Now" peaks excitement for Hitchcock's upcoming debut album, BETTER, which is slated to release May 13 via RCA Records. The consistency of Deante' Hitchcock's earlier discography, as well as the strength of these past two singles, give no doubt that BETTER will be a solid addition to the Atlanta hip-hop scene.
