Coco Jones' "Here We Go (Uh Oh)" Is a Heart-Striking R&B Stunner
R&B princess Coco Jones has released a brand new single for the people. “Here We Go” is a true lamentation. It’s a cry over this seemingly frustrating pattern of heartbreak. The emotional labor expelled trying to get over a significant other, only to continuously be pulled back in again and again.
Sampling Lenny Williams' classic 1978 ballad "'Cause I Love You," “Here We Go” gives us soul; it gives us the blues (in every sense). The single marks Jones’ first single of the year. Speaking further on the song, Coco explains, “It’s the impossible mission to move on from this chapter, from this person, from this cycle.” Passionately and purposefully, her vocals dominate the meticulously produced record, a trademark characteristic of the 2023 Best New Artist of the BET Awards.
The song closes with Jones repeating, “Why won’t you just be the better man? / Why I got to be the bigger man? / You just wanna be a middleman / Trying to get in between.” In the track, she urges her ex essentially to just allow her to move on and love new people, even if it's to no avail.
The song is produced by the prolific Cardiak and Wu10 and also arrives alongside an official music video directed by Joy “Simi” Hubbard Kelvin “Wu10” Wooten has previously worked with artists like Jazmine Sullivan and J.Cole.
