It Is Only a Matter of "Time" Until Brandon Is a Star

I am such a sucker for music that teleports you into a sentimental headspace. Riverside, California-based artist Brandon has returned with yet another beautiful gem in "Time," his first single of 2023. A reflection on time, the myriad of twisted emotions that become entangled by simply existing on this Earth, and ultimately, heartache, Brandon bares his soul in this record. Buddhism teaches that at its root, suffering has two forms. Craving and aversion. "Time" is a Geronimo leap into the former.
Over a beautiful chord progression that sounds eerily reminiscent of Prince’s "Purple Rain," Brandon’s vocal performance and words truly shine. It’s as if you’re a priest and he’s confessing his most intimate vulnerabilities to you. “How long til I pay my dues” he muses ambivalently. This song sounds like how fine whisky hits you a few shots in. Warm and fuzzy. If you’re alone, listen at your own risk, you’re destined to suffer from the feels.
Since 2018, Brandon has experienced a steady rise. I fell in love with his music during the pandemic and have been hooked ever since. He has a unique brand of music and is, in my eyes, irreplaceable. As a fan, selfishly speaking, I hope this single signifies that he has several more in the queue.
