Badflower Pays Tribute To Dearly Departed Pets On New Single "Paws" | THE NOISE

Dogs are man's best friend, and Badflower pulls at our heartstrings this week with the emotional new single entitled "Paws." Dedicated to all those grieving the loss of a pet, the Nashville-based rockers arguably cover one of the most difficult human experiences.

The song takes us on an emotional journey, opening with a powerful surge of catharsis. Stirring guitar strums build to clashing percussion and deep, thrumming bass lines, creating a sonic landscape that mirrors the tumultuous emotions of losing a cherished pet. Lead singer Josh Katz's vulnerable lyrics recount the day he met his furry best friend, a companion who offered him unconditional love and courage over the years.

On the gigantic chorus, amid a flurry of heartfelt guitar riffs, he belts, "And you could never know/ It was your time to go/ To see an angel fall (When you fall from above)/ I'm all out of love/ I'm all out of love since she's gone."

"Losing a pet is a very serious thing," Katz explains. "It's something I've been through, and I know a lot of other people have been through. I live on a farm by myself in the middle of nowhere, so I don't have very many friends. My animals are my whole world. It's a sad topic, but I like sad songs, and I hope it can help someone going through that experience right now."

In addition to the new single, Badflower announced the release of their forthcoming album, No Place Like Home, out June 20. The record will also feature previously released tracks "Haunting You," "London," and the No. 1 Active Rock radio hit "Detroit." The band will hit the road this summer as they join 311 on the 2025 Unity Tour from June 20 to August 31.
