Audrey McGraw's "Gone Away" Combines Spoken Word with Exquisite Vocals

Audrey McGraw may be country music royalty, but she continues to prove that she has what it takes to blaze her own path with the release of her latest single, "Gone Away." The single is a captivating track that combines the singer-songwriter's rich, stunning vocals with stirring spoken passages, creating a sonic experience equal parts mesmerizing and goose-bump-inducing.

The four-and-a-half-minute masterpiece opens with warm, guitar riffs that burn low like the last embers of a fire. McGraw's velvety vocals croon over the melancholic arrangement gracefully, painting a picture of love that has "gone away." In her spoken word verse, she ruminates on disappointment and loss as steady percussion and thrumming basslines join the fold. As the song progresses, an element of strength begins to emerge from the depths of the production, as the instrumentation builds and McGraw asserts herself, transforming as electric guitar riffs break out of the brooding sound collage.

"Gone Away" is the fifth song the budding artist has released this year and follows the success of her June single, "Purple Flowers." On the track, she demonstrates her refined artistry and exquisite songwriting, traversing classic Americana with soothing grace. Speaking about the song, McGraw shared, "I love this song!!! I wrote it with Kyle Emerson Miller. We floated the idea around for a while, and when we got into the studio to record it, it came together so magically. It has become one of my favorites on the upcoming album."

McGraw recently finished up a string of New York City headline shows at venues including Cafe Wha?, Jean's, and Silver Linings Lounge as part of the Lipps Service Concert Series. This summer marked her first time touring as a supporting act on Brandi Carlile's European and UK tour, performing for sold-out crowds at iconic venues like London's Royal Albert Hall.
